What is an Energy Performace Certificate?
An EPC tells you how energy efficient a domestic property is and gives it a rating from A (very efficient) to G (inefficient). It is a legal requirement if you are selling or renting your property. It contains a ‘recommendation report’ with suggestions on how you can reduce the amount you spend on energy.
Who needs an EPC?
You must have an EPC if:
- You rent out or sell the premises
- You require Higher rate F.I.T.
- Your property’s EPC needs to be available to potential buyers as soon as you start to market your property for sale or rent
